The challenges include negligence of ethics and competition in posting sensitive stories on public domain without censorship.
“The editor doesn’t have the hegemony of digital decision anymore. The editorial matters are now being outsourced to Facebook and the Commercial and marketing departments have taken over the newsroom,” he added.
Rech further said that the media companies have been seduced by Instant Articles. Therefore the challenge lies in getting riddance of lethargy in journalism and use the skills and techniques for writing better, investigative and in-depth stories.
New journalism should seek to reestablish their role as agenda-setters. The main task of new journalism is to bring back the essence of old journalism- credibility.
