“Digital inkjet continuous-feed presses for colour printing entered the market in the year 2000 with a machine from Scitex. In the following years more and more vendors offered  their own solutions and today about 60 different models are available or in the launch phase. In 2012, 416 colour inkjet highspeed engines have been sold worldwide, representing more than 200 digital press lines,” Schlözer says.

According to his company’s research, 20 continuous-feed colour inkjet lines for newspaper printing are currently installed, most of them in Europe.
