INJECT - Future Journalism, Now.

On 1 January 2017, WAN-IFRA initiated its partnership with the INJECT consortium (“INnovating Journalism: Enhanced Creativity Tools”). The project is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 framework for Research and Innovation and includes 14 European partners (from media, academia, startups and tech).

Inspiration tool for journalists

The INJECT consortium is developing an inspiration tool to help improve the creativity and productivity of journalists in the digital world. It leverages powerful search algorithms that surface articles, individuals and visuals related to stories to trigger new and original ideas quickly.

The inspiration tool (available in beta) makes it easier to find new story ideas and angles by offering various options to explore articles, visuals and data in a novel way.

Making time for creativity

In addition to the inspiration tool, the consortium is developing creative strategies for journalists in a broader sense.

Journalists and Creativity in Professional Practice scholars are currently working together on a MOOC. The MOOC will run in May and participation is free of charge.

In 4 weeks, the hands-on MOOC covers different techniques that help you open up new spaces to think creatively about your work, as well as the INJECT tool that makes these techniques more readily available on a day-to-day basis.

Workshop at Congress

Join the a workshop 'Creative Strategies for Journalists' at the World News Media Congress in Estoril, Portugal on 6 June 2018.
