EU Commission to file antitrust complaint against Android this week?

Politico explains why the antitrust case against Android, which the Commission is rumored to being very close to file, is even scarier to the tech giant than the now six-year long litigation over the search engine.

With sales of smartphones beating those of computers by 500 per cent last year, an action against Android would likely cripple Google’s business strategy, which largely focuses on mobile development.

Google Play, which stocks more apps than the Apple store and four times more than Amazon, is at the core of the complaints.

According to competitors, because of this wealth of apps Google Play appears as an  essential service to most phone manufacturers, but Google allows access to Google Play only when the other proprietary services are installed, namely email maps and search.
