May 1 to 31: Passport DC

Passport DC 2015 is a month-long journey around the world highlighting DC's thriving international diplomatic community and its lively and varied international culture. Celebrated annually in May, which is International Cultural Awareness Month in Washington, Passport DC is 31 days of programming by 70 embassies and more than 40 of DC's very best cultural institutions. Over 280,000 people experience the popular embassy open houses, street festivals, performances, exhibitions and workshops. Why not try to catch the end of the celebration if you arrive in DC few days early before the Congress?

June 5 to 7: Celebrate Fairfax!

Celebrate Fairfax!, Northern Virginia’s largest community-wide celebration, will take place June 5-7, 2015 at the Fairfax County Government Center. During the three-day run, the annual festival offers fascinating sights and sounds of more than 300 exhibitors, food vendors, and interactive activities and showcases live concerts on nine stages, ExxonMobil Children’s Avenue, a petting zoo, the Fairfax County Karaoke Championship, carnival rides, and great festival foods.

June 5 to 28: Source Festival

Washington’s source for new work, takes place over three weeks in June each year and features 18 10-Minute Plays, three Full-Length Plays and three Artistic Blind Dates. By bringing together Washington artists and the work of playwrights from across the country, Source Festival becomes a hive of fresh thinking and bright ideas. Early career artists work side-by-side with seasoned veterans to create this three-week summer festival of new work. There are open-call opportunities for playwrights, actors, directors, as well as visual artists, musicians, filmmakers and others.
