Lend your support to World News Day

World News Day (WND) is a new initiative spearheaded by The Canadian Journalism Foundation to raise awareness around the world about the value of fair, independent journalism in the lives of citizens and in a functioning democracy.

WND will be held on 3 May, the same date as World Press Freedom Day, to share in an existing initiative drawing attention to the value of professional journalism and media freedom. Here’s how you can support WND:

  • Run a World News Day ad in your publication
  • Post one or all World News Day tweets
  • Solicit an opinion piece from a source that has been impacted by journalism to run on World News Day
  • Email three recent stories from your news organization that high-light why journalism matters. Submissions will posted on
  • Devote an editorial to what World News Day means

Attached is a selection of logos related to the event.
