Resolution on diversity and inclusion passed by Committee of Directors of WAN-IFRA Member Associations

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) calls on its members in the global news publishing community to join WAN-IFRA in addressing the issue of diversity in news media as a matter of priority.

WAN-IFRA therefore encourages our members to take positive action in support of diversity in newsrooms and in their decision-making structures.

  • Encouraging, promoting and increasing diversity in decision-making positions;
  • Committing themselves to consider women candidates as their representatives to the WAN-IFRA board, striving to increase the gender balance in WAN-IFRA governmental bodies.
  • Reinforcing or, where necessary, adopting policies that ensure equal rights for all employees, including right to equal pay;
  • Combating discrimination and stereotypes through adopting policies that ensure equal rights.
