“noviny” – new opportunities with digital printing

At the Media Port Power of Print on Wednesday, Martin Novotny, owner of Grafie CZ in Prague, Czech Republic, describes the bi-weekly newspaper “Noviny,” which is dedicated to the printing market. Its circulation of about 1500 copies is printed digitally on a Canon Océ JetStream 1000 press.

This web-to-print service is realised in cooperation with a print provider that also handles delivery of the newspapers. “We can do regional customisation and personalisation for our readers and advertisers. We can print the reader’s name and address and match it with the appropriate content,” Novotny says.

To do that, the company uses a professional CRM system, with a database that was built up over five years’ time. Various target groups of professionals can be addressed: advertising agencies and graphic designers, printers, publishers and marketing professionals, photographers and technology providers.

“Newspapers with static content use web offset printing, but for customised and personalised newspapers, digital inkjet printing is needed,” says Novotny.
