BILD streamlines newsroom workflow efficiency

Chris Simon, Managing Editor of Germany’s BILD, discussed how his paper’s CMS system is enabling the company to take control of the entire production process across all platforms during a Media Port “Workflow Efficiency” session on Tuesday morning in Berlin.

During his presentation, titled “One integrated newsroom on one platform,” Simon explained that most of BILD’s editors and journalists prefer not to have to deal with technical details, and just want a quick overview of what is going on in their daily work. That could be mean production planning or page status checks, which articles have been published in which of the currently 44 regional editions – and if the story calls for an online follow-up.

Axel Springer Verlag, BILD’s publisher, is a strong supporter of the integrated newsroom philosophy, and Simon welcomed the idea of giving every editor the same platform to access the CMS, independent of their role or location.

The InterRed system the company chose enables the staff to access all information available in the CMS through a browser, where they can customise their personal overview page with widgets to display the information they need.

Media Port sessions continue today and Wednesday. You can find the full programme here.
